Post in this thread pictures of the most bizarre power lines. It does not matter, if you made this picture or found it in the web.
I start with a line in India, found on Google StreetView

Most bizarre power lines
Re: Most bizarre power lines
That Indian powerline does look........pretty cheap

The following line, which existed until 2016 in Dazhou, China belongs also in this category.
It started at a termination tower built as tubular steel structure.
https://ditu.baidu.com/search/%E8%BE%BE ... 901212459A
The second pylon was situated on a rock.
https://ditu.baidu.com/search/%E8%BE%BE ... 910522309A
At the third pylon, the overhead line ended and it run further as insulated overhead cable.
https://ditu.baidu.com/search/%E8%BE%BE ... 912448639A
On its further way the line was implemented as insulated overhead cable fixed on a thinner steel rope
https://ditu.baidu.com/search/%E8%BE%BE ... 913227079A
At a quite tall termination tower a transition from insulated overhead cable to overhead line took place
https://ditu.baidu.com/search/%E8%BE%BE ... 926552499A
which was followed by a huge tubular tower for crossing a highrise building
https://ditu.baidu.com/search/%E8%BE%BE ... 923333229A
which was followed by a powerline tower on a highrise building (coordinates: 31°11'28"N 107°30'43"E).
https://ditu.baidu.com/search/%E8%BE%BE ... 631398589A
The next tower was a lattice tower on a hill
https://ditu.baidu.com/search/%E8%BE%BE ... 319388179A
Unfortunately, I have no details on the used voltages and the construction year of the powerline and the highrise building, on which the tower stood.

Re: Most bizarre power lines
I remember I already saw this line in another thread. I would say it was not older than 30 years. These steel tube poles look quite modern. Maybe it was an improved structure which was designed to serve for few years only until a cable is finished.
Sadly, Baidu is somewhat slow and limited to urban areas only and there is only few OSM data for chinese power lines so it is difficult to find something in this country.

Re: Most bizarre power lines - Monclova
There are these large towers in Monclova, Mexico. I am not sure what their purpose is. They might be disused electricity pylons, experimental towers (Like those in Mannheim-Rheinau) or just a kind of artwork.

There are even more unique electricity pylons in Monclova, serving for power supply of an oversized steelwork.

Re: Most bizarre power lines - Monclova
Donaumast schreef: ↑07 mei 2025 22:26There are these large towers in Monclova, Mexico.
