Duitse hoogspanningsmasten
Re: Duitse hoogspanningsmasten
On Pfungstadt_070924_09.jpg you can see an old 110 kV power line to the left. Is this a remnant of the now defunct power line to Hirschhorn/Neckar (which had similar barrel pylons)?
Re: Duitse hoogspanningsmasten
No, these belong to the line Pfungstadt - Heppenheim which generally uses fir tree pylons but a ew barrel pylons on the northern end.
The pylons of Erbach - Beerfelden - Hirschhorn look slightly different (thinner): https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File ... -01_01.jpg
Re: Duitse hoogspanningsmasten
Great to see the progress of these new lines! Although it is a pity that the classic C1 pylons will have to go. Hopefully Google Earth will soon provide new images so that we can also update our network map.
Yes, the "Northern Germany" design gets more common in other parts of Germany but the Oberbachern - Menzing 380kV line near München also has it for many years now.

Construction of a new 380 kV power line near Gramzow (Brandenburg), next to an existing 220 kV powerline.

Re: Duitse hoogspanningsmasten
Nice idea, but seems like not too optimal lightning protection here.

Powerline Hoheneck-Herbertingen and first towers of 110 kV traction power line Schwieberdingen-Eutingen east of Schwieberdingen. The bright "star" on the left side of the picture is the planet Venus.
