Poolse hoogspanningsmasten

Load door Donaumast » 06 okt 2022 20:28

Good evening,

I didn't found any topic about the polish power grid, so I start a new one. The usual voltages used are 400 kV, 220 kV, 110 kV, 15 kV and 400 V. Regionally there are sometimes power lines with 60 kV, 30 kV, 20 kV or 6 kV, historically 150 kV was used in central Poland. There also was a 750 kV power line to Belarus.

The polish electricity pylons have a quite distinctive design. Unlike in germany or other countries, there are no regional different designs, because the polish power grid after 1945 was constructed by a single state-owned company. Most pylons in poland use a 3-level design with an additional traverse for lightning protection wires. More seldom, Donau type pylons are used too. Single-circuit power lines for 110 kV use a asymmetric design, which is probably the most frequent design in poland. Rarely, concrete portals or stel tube poles are used. Single-circuit lines of 220 and 400 kV use delta or portal schemes. Medium-voltage power lines usually are mounted on reinforced concrete poles.

The most interesting pylons nevertheless can be found in western Poland. Here are still many electricity pylons which were built by the germans before 1945. Unlike in germany, most of them were not yet replaced or removed until now and are still in use, though some are in a desolate condition. In pomerania, one-level towers were predominant, while in silesia donau pylons (some with lightning wire traverse) of this era can be found.
