I think about making something like this for the power lines for the 1940s grid map for germany which is circulating somewhere in web. Though I only could do it in the Nethistorie section here, because most power lines do not exist any more and most images I have are copyrighted.

Construction of a new 380 kV power line near Gramzow (Brandenburg), next to an existing 220 kV powerline.

On Pfungstadt_070924_09.jpg you can see an old 110 kV power line to the left. Is this a remnant of the now defunct power line to Hirschhorn/Neckar (which had similar barrel pylons)?

Japan is known for their high communications-tower-style electricity pylons, which sometime have as much as 12 levels. Also extensive cable-salads of medium-voltage power lines running across their streets.
